Please keep in mind that posts may be divided into parts. I also may post other things in addition to the scheduled topic.
Guest Post Note: Guests are able and are encouraged to post on certain days. For example, for “Wednesday Characters,” a guest may write a piece on their own character. Days that guests are able to post will have the line “Guest Posts Encouraged” in red.
If, instead, you blog about the topic on your own, please comment with a link back to your post. I’m sure many of us would enjoy reading it.
If you are interested in guest-posting, please email me at writer.bgood@yahoo.com at least three days ahead of schedule. Before it is posted, I will review the piece.
Blogging Schedule:
Monday Missions
On this day, I will post my writing goals for the week. Comment with yours or link back to a post with your goals. I’d like for us to be encouraging and for us to help each other meet them.
Tuesday Prompt
Stories come in all forms. I appreciate many types of art, and I believe my experience in them helped improve my writing. I’ll post (or link to) a photo, short video, music, etc.; it could your inspiration, prompt, or atmosphere. Write whatever comes to mind and how it influences you. Feel free to comment with your responses or a link to your writing; I would love to read them. Suggestions are welcome.
Wednesday Characters
Do you know your character? Each Wednesday, you’ll learn more about my characters. It could be through an interview or a short personal essay he/she “wrote.” It could be a survey or a reflection of his/her past (that does NOT spoil your readers on the actual story). Short or long, this is a writing exercise. Guest Posts Encouraged.
Thursday Interviews
I hope to post an interview I did with a published author, an aspiring writer, or any other persons involved with the writing world. Although I’ll be contacting those I wish to interview, please feel free to email me if you’re interested. Interviews will be conducted a week before posting through email, Skype, or phone. It up to the interviewee.
Friday Flashback
I will post one of my past works to reflect on and/or evaluate on how it could be improved. Warning: Flashback pieces can go as far back as Kindergarten. Prepare to cringe. Guest Posts Encouraged.
Saturday Lines
The habit of copying lines from a novel, short story, poem, or any type of writing started in middle school. If a dialogue touched me, I’d write it down. If I thought a sentence (or three) was brilliant, I’d write it down. On this day, I’ll post short excerpts of published and unpublished writing. We’ll examine why it’s good or bad and comment on why we do or do not like it. Guest Posts Encouraged.
Sunday Sum-Up
After almost a week of writing, what did you get done? Did you reach your goals? I’ll blog about my writing experience for the week and include an excerpt of what I wrote. The excerpt must be a minimum of 100 words and no more than 700 words. Guest Posts Encouraged.
Alternate Schedule:
Monday
None
Tuesday Tools
Web tools or utensils. Desks or cafe tables. Books or magazines. Computer or paper. What are some of the tools you use(d)? Some tools you have found? Recommend? Guest Posts Encouraged.
Wednesday Writers
Who are some of the writers you admire? Why? We’ll also discuss (published and unpublished) writers and their work. This differs from Thursday Interviews in that it lacks interaction with the writer. Writers include graphic novelists, journalists, bloggers, etc. Guest Posts Encouraged.
Thursday Critics
I’ll post a writing piece, whose author will be anonymous, to be reviewed by fellow readers and writers. Those submitting should include what they’d like to be closely examined (e.g. grammar). Pieces should not exceed 800 words. Any inappropriate comments will be deleted. One line comments (i.e. “cool” or “good job”) is discouraged; we want to know why it’s cool or well done. Through this, I hope people find writing buddies or a critique group to join or form. Perhaps, a future forum can be made. Guest Posts/Submissions Encouraged.
Friday Free-Write
Expect anything (writing-related). Guest Posts Encouraged.
Saturday Soundtrack
What’s the soundtrack of your story? Your character’s theme? What are you listening to as you write? Why or why no do you write with music? Perhaps, we’ll also examine how some authors integrated music into their writing. Guest Posts Encouraged.
Sunday
None
